Admissions Policy

Admission Priorities - Our Lady of Grace School is a Catholic school in the Diocese of Gary open to all families who desire a Catholic education for their children.  Priority is given to practicing Catholic families already registered in the school or parish, to families from neighboring Catholic parishes without a school, and to all others as space is available.

Age Requirement - Students must be five years of age by August 1st for admission into kindergarten.  Pre-school students must be 4 years of age by August 1st.

Application - Applications for Our Lady of Grace School are available at the end of January each year.

Records and Reports - For admission, parents are required to present:
  • The child’s birth certificate
  • Baptismal certificate
  • Evidence of compliance with immunization requirements
  • Health assessment form
  • Copies of the last report card
  • Standardized test scores and/or Indiana test results
  • Any support service evaluation reports

Applications are considered incomplete until all records are received.

Academic Readiness and Grade Placement - Prior to admittance of a child at Our Lady of Grace School, the administration shall have the right to test the student and/or to require a written recommendation from the prior school.  Test results will be used to place a child in a proper grade level.  Students not recommended for promotion in their previous school may not be accepted to the next grade at Our Lady of Grace.

Registration - Registration of all students takes place in February.  All currently enrolled students are required to re-register each February.  Open registration for new students takes place the last two weeks in February.  A non-refundable registration fee is due annually for each student.  The registration fee assures a place for the following August.

All new students are admitted on a probationary basis.
